About Redhill and Its Housing Market
Redhill is a small town in Surrey about 21 miles south of London City Centre or within the so-called London commuter belt. It developed out of two rural parishes when a toll road was built in the area in 1818. It was originally called Warwick Town; it got its current name in 1856 when a post office was relocated here from Red Hill Common.
Several large companies have their offices in Redhill but the majority of its residents work in Greater London and other larger Surrey towns. Not only is it within convenient distance to the UK capital and major economic centres in Surrey but the town has also outstanding rail and road links. Thus most places can be reached within about 30 minutes.
To give the town a more modern look and “rejuvenate” the city centre, the local council has decided for a regeneration project. The works haven’t commenced yet but recently revealed images of the plans for the new town centre indicate the intentions to make the heart of Redhill a vibrant centre and more enjoyable place to work, live, shop and spend leisure time.
In the recent years, there has been a growing interest in Redhill properties among both home buyers and investors. Increased demand has significantly increased house prices and even led to shortage of properties. Currently, the average price for a house in Redhill is about £350,000.
